MUSIC CO-LAB
The Music Co-lab brings together a diverse group of musically inclined people to collaborate in making one new piece of music.
Over the course of three days, participants in the Music Co-Lab will be assigned to a group that will co-create a new piece of music from scratch. At the end of the collaboration, the piece created will be performed in a mini-concert for the attendees.
The essence of this is similar to bringing together studio musicians on a song who don’t know each other, don’t know the artist, and definitely don’t know the song.
Groups will vary and be assigned based on participants who sign up, the instrument/music creation tool they are familiar with the most and overall availability. Each group will be led through the sessions by Brad Dollar, a seasoned music professional deeply familiar with the creation process, team building and project guidance needed to create a great experience. You won’t be alone!
Recording will be a central element of each collaboration. Participants will work together to build a song and take it all the way from rough idea to something that can be released.
Groups will experience fast-paced decision making, and a huge dose of trusting the process. Our goal will be to maximize every second we have. Your job will be to stay flexible and fluid. Everyone is under the same parameters, so the playing field is level.
The end result is a group of interdisciplinary professionals finding a new idea they all agree on together and seeing it through its creation all the way to completion. The lessons learned about problem solving, relationship building, and creative strategy that make a complete piece of music are priceless and can be applied to almost any process we face at work, at home, and in our day-to-day lives.
Space is limited and attendees must register for a group in advance.
